Hello Locus Sounus,
The mic is close to a bus stop and right in front of a round about,
cars, motorcycles and busses are the first sounds you can listen to.
In the background there is the sound of pacific ocean waves and the
wind. In the mornings and late afternoons birds fly around and this
place is very close to an airport, therefore small airplanes are
crossing the sound scape often.
Some weeks ago I got the streambox from Alejo. After some days
testing box now is working 100%.

California Santa Barbara Gate. In the background the amazing Pacific
Ocean.

Hi,
I finally got my stream up at my new residence in Oakland, using a
wireless device to get connectivity. Thanks to Alejo for the ayuda.
I have some questions though.
Has anyone used the streambox outside? I'd like to get it outside
where there is a pretty rich sound environment. Any ideas or
suggestions on that? How to encase the box? Or, alternatively, how
to extend the mic so that I just put that part outside?
I need to worry about both rain and dust.
Has anyone tried to make a parabolic mic for the streambox? I'm not
too happy with the sound I'm getting and I'm almost certain it could
be better. What kind of adjustments have you been making to fine
tune the sound quality?
Any suggestions would be helpful.
best -august.

hi all,
there are 2 upcoming festivals where the streams from all around the planet will be required, this is a call to arms!
:)
please shout/scream and let us know what kind of issues you are facing that stop you from streaming:
City Sonics / Mons August 26 / Sept 11th 2011
And Todaysart +/ MyCityLab in Brussels Sept 29th / Oct 2nd 2011
also, per request of an artist i have now a setup that streams mp3 using darkice (it can well be ogg, that is what we use). the device runs under 4% of CPU usage and can be made headless (no-monitor). if someone here is interested on this barebones build please let me know, it includes gstreamer so if anyone feels at ease with it and will like to explore further then this could well lead us into another way for streaming from the alix computer.
(((i have to actually test video streams and see how it goes)))
so yes, getting back on topic, please-please let us know what you need to have the stream back online, we want to have as many as possible for those to exhibitions.

We are happy to announce that the marseille_port stream - which had
been absent for some time - is now back up and running, so you can
once again here the gentle lapping of the mediterranean against the
sea wall.

Hi streamer of Locustream!!
you will probably find this useful, specially for the mix of streams!
a new free software is born: IceStream -
https://sourceforge.net/projects/icestream/
it's a beta version, we are writing the known bugs & todo, some parts
are in french but it is already possible to use it to mix audio
streaming, to start an icecast from gui and the to send an audio
stream to it or elsewhere. Thanks to mplayer, ices, icecast, vorbis
and jack.
It works with jackd server and use only ogg for the moment (we don't
use mp3 anyway here).
Of course, we are looking for beta-tester and more people are also
welcome to help, support, develop and more if you want!!
mailing list on its way and forum already in place :
https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/icestream/
bug tracker to come ;-)
cheers
Julien
