Hello all
I'm sitting here with Covid listening to the amazing stream from Yotoco Valle by Kristian Paul and feeling better already.
We re putting together the programme for Reveil 9, the day-long broadcast we do each year, following sunrise as it circles the earth on Dawn Chorus Day.
This year Reveil will run from 5AM UTC+1 on Saturday 30 April to 6AM on Sunday 1st May.
We put out this call: https://mailchi.mp/a065d6bf1a53/reveil9 https://mailchi.mp/a065d6bf1a53/reveil9
As always, the open microphones at Locus Sonus provide the essential framework for the broadcast. We are grateful for your new, long-standing and refreshed streams.
For your stream to feature in the broadcast, it would be great if you could make a page for it from here: http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams
If you have technical queries about streaming, we're happy to add our advice to that of others on this list.
Many thanks and looking forward
Best wishes Grant

To amend a bit: I had a few tabs open..
The stream I was listening to, with sheets of cicadas, was quite a new one, I think: http://locus.creacast.com:9001/brumadinho_inhotim.ogg http://locus.creacast.com:9001/brumadinho_inhotim.ogg by Archipel Stations Community Radio (Monai de Paula Antunes, Niko de Paula Lefort)
Really a lovely addition to the map

Hi Michel
The login for the form here
http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streamsis different from the one for the soundmap.
If you haven't made a page like this one before: http://streams.soundtent.org/2020/streams/utc0_prague http://streams.soundtent.org/2020/streams/utc0_prague then you'd need to create a new Login
Maybe try that and let me know if it doesn't work as expected?
Thanks very much

no. you'd multiply the possible problems: network / routing / bandwidth, OS-specific issues, software versions and configurations, etc. I can see a network of icecast or similar servers in failover and load-balanced configs one some horizon, but that most probably won't happen, someone would have to take care about it and pay the bill.

sure, it'd be great. it's a question of money, unless you have stable sponsoring and some dedicated admins.

Hi together, sorry for beeing that late. Despite having some experience working with audio and programmes i can´t get my locus Sonus stream running and connected to the soundtent profile. Synching butt to locus sonus won`t work either. The Plan is: laptop ( Internet via Mobile 4G), MixPre as A / I and recorder and two Mics
Soundtent / Reveil profile is done, but not visible on the streaming list. Locus Sonus profile is done, but cannot be seen on the map. I understand locus sonus as a stream server. The butt audio player is installed, but not connected with locus sonus. Meanwhile i understood i need a different password, than the one i used in the locus sonus setup.
May you help me withthe following questions? Can i run butt without an personal account with icecast or shoutcast? If not, what easy serverstation could help me on a windows pc, with me not beeing a programming freak? Where do i get the password for the mountpoint?
I tried a lot of internet ressources, but with no final success. I would be grateful or your support.
Thanks Andreas

Hi Andreas, try the "how to" section here http://soundtent.org/soundcamp_stream.html There is a very nice "streaming with a laptop" part there.
I have run a very similar set for my first Reveil (phone wifi hotspot, laptop with BUTT connecting to my Locusonus account, zoom recorder as audio interface, external mics). Didn't have to set up anything apart from the two accounts you seem to already have. I believe the password to put in BUTT is indeed *not* your mountpoint password but I guess the admins will need to get you that - try the addresses at the top of that "how to" document (below "quick start") good luck!

For others wondering about BUTT, there is a guide here; https://paper.dropbox.com/doc/REVEIL-9-STREAMING-1nmPD7l4RBXTwP9di22sZ#:uid=...
The only thing you should please check with LS Dev is the password for BUTT, which somebody will quickly share!

Hi folks, fyi, my stream is up and running, and I'll try to keep it going for the next week ... Grant, if you need to test, go ahead! There is a heavy machine humming, not sure where that is coming from, but it may be irrigation pumps at some nearby farm fields ... some birds, dogs barking, roosters, etc...
If anyone has feedback, just to let me know if levels are okay and such, let me know!
Thanks all, looking forward to Reveil!

I set up the stream with RP on my window for now, hope to move it to some more romantic location for Sunday morning. dawn chorus is quite vivid here since the inner yard reflects the bird calls
unfortunately my soundman binural microphone are broken, will try to find some solution

Hey, the good news first: beeing in a team of a local noncommercial radio station in Kassel www.freies-radio-kassel.de https://www.freies-radio-kassel.de/startseite.html we managed to do a small report on the reveil IDCD 2022 with a lot of information. Furthermore we are going to stream, at least part of the whole project, starting on saturday 8 pm to the rest of the stream. Very happy about that.
Still i can`t get fixed this: What exactly is the url i have to put in the *http://streams.soundtent.org/users/sign_in* http://streams.soundtent.org/users/sign_in mask ( the profle itself is done) ?
I don`t understand the conventions and informations given at the different places. Working with butt (icecast) and locus i wonder hardly if is really just the the icecast Mountpoint to copy and paste as the stream url ?
Is there any way to check the stream in the soundtent edit profile?I guess while running the stream, this will be impossible.
Anyway good luck for all and still be looking forward to the event. Very fine event to get into a better mood!!!
All the best
Andreas

mine runs fine and was just a few lines in the terminal window and forwarding a port to an IP number to get it working... but probably a bit too difficult for less experienced streamers
no. you'd multiply the possible problems: network / routing / bandwidth,

Update from Darren Copeland from NAISA and Warbler's Roost in South River:
Warbler's Roost stream has been running since last night. I managed to update the info on the Reveil page successfully this morning so looks like things are sorted there.
http://streams.soundtent.org/2022/streams/utc-4_commanda-ontario-canada-9f5b...
http://locus.creacast.com:9001/south_river_warblers_roost.mp3
I will keep the stream going as much as possible during the week, but I might pause it once in awhile for adjustments. Night into early morning EDT in North America are good times to listen.
New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) will be hosting a sound recording workshop at Warbler's Roost on the Reveil weekend. There are still spots available for accommodations if anyone is interested and is within driving distance of South River, Ontario:
https://naisa.ca/education/workshops/
NAISA will also be relaying the Reveil broadcast on its NAISA Radio stream: https://naisa.ca/naisa-radio/
All the best to everyone for a good Reveil this year.
Cheers Darren

Hello,
My stream is up and running from the woods on Hampstead Heath:
http://locus.creacast.com:9001/london_wildmic
There’s a lot of low end in there and too late to go and move it. Not sure where it’s from. I have a recollection that somewhere there is a place one can tweak the stream box settings. Is there a hi pass filter ? And if so how does one log in remotely ?
Fingers crossed it keeps running.
All the best,
Jem

Hi Jane, if you are creating a stream on Locusonus ( http://locusonus.org/soundmap/dev/admin/join) then once the account is created the URL is at the top of the admin page once you log in ( https://locusonus.org/soundmap/admin/user/): "LOCUSTREAM SOUNDMAP ADMINISTRATION your stream name is ... XXXXXX your stream url is ....... http://locus.creacast.com:9001/XXXXXXX"
As for the new stream on the soundtent page ( http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams), I tried to go in myself now and it appears there is perhaps some kind of outage so I'd suggest trying once that is cleared. I was registering couple days ago and found that I was missing some details in one of the boxes and thus it was rejected. So perhaps this might be causing your issues (if it's not the page issue)

We re putting together the programme for Reveil 9, the day-long broadcast we do each year, following sunrise as it circles the earth on Dawn Chorus Day.
This year Reveil will run from 5AM UTC+1 on Saturday 30 April to 6AM on Sunday 1st May.
We put out this call: https://mailchi.mp/a065d6bf1a53/reveil9
As always, the open microphones at Locus Sonus provide the essential framework for the broadcast. We are grateful for your new, long-standing and refreshed streams.
For your stream to feature in the broadcast, it would be great if you could make a page for it from here: http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams
If you have technical queries about streaming, we're happy to add our advice to that of others on this list.
Many thanks and looking forward

I was registering couple days ago and found that I was missing some details in one of the boxes and thus it was rejected. So perhaps this might be causing your issues (if it's not the page issue)

We re putting together the programme for Reveil 9, the day-long broadcast we do each year, following sunrise as it circles the earth on Dawn Chorus Day.
This year Reveil will run from 5AM UTC+1 on Saturday 30 April to 6AM on Sunday 1st May.
We put out this call: https://mailchi.mp/a065d6bf1a53/reveil9 https://mailchi.mp/a065d6bf1a53/reveil9
As always, the open microphones at Locus Sonus provide the essential framework for the broadcast. We are grateful for your new, long-standing and refreshed streams.
For your stream to feature in the broadcast, it would be great if you could make a page for it from here: http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams
If you have technical queries about streaming, we're happy to add our advice to that of others on this list.
Many thanks and looking forward
Best wishes Grant

Hey Grant,
I hope this finds you well.
Apologies for coming so late to this—it’s been a heckuva Spring Term, plus I was ill for a week and away all last week, which meant getting slammed with catch up on return this week. Anyhoo . . . I’ve set up a stream page for my stream this year:
http://streams.soundtent.org/2022/streams/utc1_coventry-4d02110c-4516-4958-a... http://streams.soundtent.org/2022/streams/utc1_coventry-4d02110c-4516-4958-a52e-aba87ece7dce
I was thinking to stream Sunday morning but could to tomorrow morning instead, if you prefer, or both! Or if it’s entirely too late to be included in the broadcast, no worries. (I’ll turn my stream on anyways, and certainly listen throughout the 24 hours.)
I tested this stream page (and associated LocusCast) and it seems to work. Will test again a bit later this evening, and if there are any problems let you know.
Good luck with the stream!
Best,
Jonathan

Hi - having trouble setting up my stream, central Australia. I think I’ve set it up, trephina_gorge, but am getting an error message and locus isn’t recognising me from last time I participated, 2020. Steam name then was Alice Springs I think. Any advice? Thanks Lisa

Hello there
Apologies for being late here and I’m hoping to set something up for streaming from the Coalesce Center for Biological Art at SUNY Buffalo for this year’s Reveil.. I’ve done so in the past from Toronto - I’m currently in residency in NY.
