bad news so far: IQAudio sold their business to raspberrypi.com, and rpi are not sure whether they should continue with the codecZero and Code+ boards (the one with stereo mic in) so, all back to zero? ... they've asked me, as a "valued partner", about my opinion, and I urged them to continue with these boards... however, I am not sure if they have correctly assessed the dimension and size of my radio aporee enterprise... ;) anyway, I mentioned 1000s of potential users from our live radio platforms. let's see,
udo
-- radio aporee 52° 29' 66" N, 13° 25' 26" E ::: maps https://aporee.org/maps/ ::: stream http://radio.aporee.org ::: field radio https://aporee.org/fieldradio ::: miniatures for mobiles https://aporee.org/mfm/
Jeez, what a complete pain! Can't even buy any up from the old website as it seems to be shelved.
If they do choose discontinue it, what about them donating the schematics to Acoustic Commons?

Oh no,
That's come out of the blue :-(
Pleased I managed to get a couple a while back - to my shame still awaiting deployment.
Udo, I'm sure rpi will listen to your logical reasoning and good recommendation. Though it's not the same thing perhaps worth emphasising the utility for ecological monitoring (a la AudioMoth) which has become very popular during lockdown with initiatives such as the Silent Cities project and its huge citizen science input?

This is indeed very disappointing news :-(. I was so looking forward to a smaller footprint, lower power draw setup

Okay. I found it a very confusing time creating an account with you - which was only because I was participating in a livestream. Just following instructions, but obviously pressed something I didn’t mean to. I will unsubscribe.

while I agree that unsubscribing from a mailing list should be core competence in the digital age..., I'm aware that many don't have a clue, or interest, or time to deal with the obstacles of a mailing list's interface. So I'd say that instead of insisting on choosing the right way to unsubscribe from this list, I'd be more kind and relaxing if the list admin would do that silently on request of annoyed users. I mean, it's not 100s a day or so... just an idea. peace, u.

Agreed. I never intentionally subscribed in the first place, and nor did the other number of people who have asked to be removed today, and who’s names I recognised from playing piano on the same live stream as me a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, I thought I had unsubscribed, but still I got an email from you guys, so I’ve just tried another route to unsubscribe -

Of note to those on this list in case you hadn't seen it, the Raspberry Pi foundation has announced the availability (or imminent availability) of four IQaudio products: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/iqaudio-is-now-raspberry-pi/
"DAC+, DAC Pro, DigiAMP+, and Codec Zero will all be available to buy via our network of Raspberry Pi Approved Resellers."
The datasheets for the four products are online too: https://datasheets.raspberrypi.org/iqaudio/iqaudio-product-brief.pdf
It looks like the DAC+, DAC Pro and DigiAMP+ are available immediately, the Codec Zero shipping "early in the New Year." Furthermore, the DAC Pro will have an optional XLR daughter board which will be relaunched in Q1 2021.

nice! maybe my "intervention" had an effect... ;) I've been in contact with them since that last email, the zeros were planned for August 2020, bought 10 of the remaining units from IQaudio and tried to convince them to keep the codec zero and codec+ but unfortunately the latter has gone it seems. It works really great with older (and less power hungry) pi2. They had about 90 left in the shelf in August... anyway, if the zero still has that hidden stereo settings, all fine. however, it's sometimes difficult to get a clean input. Primo EM172 are easy (but discontinued), EM272 (the successor) are a pain... udo

Is the M272 a different impedance, less sensitivity or less over-all output? I haven't played with any of those capsules. I wanted to mess with the M172's, but life basically had to be put on hold at the end of last year, then the pandemic happened, and I haven't really been able to do anything fun or interesting in over a year.

Primo EM172 are easy (but discontinued), EM272 (the successor) are a pain... udo

Of note to those on this list in case you hadn't seen it, the Raspberry Pi foundation has announced the availability (or imminent availability) of four IQaudio products: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/iqaudio-is-now-raspberry-pi/
"DAC+, DAC Pro, DigiAMP+, and Codec Zero will all be available to buy via our network of Raspberry Pi Approved Resellers."
bad news so far: IQAudio sold their business to raspberrypi.com, and
rpi
are not sure whether they should continue with the codecZero and Code+
boards
(the one with stereo mic in) so, all back to zero? ... they've asked me, as a "valued partner", about my opinion, and I urged
them
to continue with these boards... however, I am not sure if they have correctly assessed the dimension

of my radio aporee enterprise... ;) anyway, I mentioned 1000s of potential users from our live radio

the EM272 have 1.5kΩ, the 172 2.4kΩ. seems to make a difference. checked against a pair of AOM 5024, which have 2.2kΩ impredance, they are also very quiet, don't catch noise. the 272 works best (connected to a raspberry pi) with the cheapest plastik plug one can find. the best neutriks angled metal shielded ones are the worst. so it goes.
Patrick Perdue:
Is the M272 a different impedance, less sensitivity or less over-all output? I haven't played with any of those capsules. I wanted to mess with the M172's, but life basically had to be put on hold at the end of last year, then the pandemic happened, and I haven't really been able to do anything fun or interesting in over a year.

This is so hilarious. You all do know there is an unsubscribe option on every e-mail don’t you. Just click away. Easier and less annoying than posting to a list with many subscribers. Hahaha.
Best wishes, stay safe, well and stress free everyone.

Hello all! I realize subscribing/unsubscribing to email lists is not so common knowledge nowadays as it was 10-15 years ago and it might be some less knowledge on how to handle this nowadays. Just repeating what have been said in other mails here and there. You are both subscribing and unsubscribing on this list yourself. I doubt there is a special dedicated admin who (wants to) does this.
*To unsubscribe, send another mail to locustream-request@nujus.net locustream-request@nujus.net (that´s another mail address than this) with unsubscribe in the subject or the message*
*You can also manage this from this page (look a bit down on this page):http://nujus.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/locustream http://nujus.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/locustream *
This is self managed, and not that complicated if you give it a try. The message* above is contained in all the emails sent out at the bottom. *(just added some clarification to original message)
All the best & also painfully realizing I am also adding to the noise, Björn Eriksson

Hej Björn!
Uff, this is an endless process, trying to get people to follow two simple steps that are automated, and that, every time I've tested it on locus, work every time instantly ... My god, can people be so thick?
Hope you are doing well! (We here in the US, where I am now, are suffering badly from our stupid narcissistic political "leadership" (not!)). My god.
Peace!

So rude. The steps are not that simple. We are all busy people. Please have some grace.

Hi John,
I have tried many times to unsubscribe from this list and have followed the process described exactly each time. I don’t think that I or anyone else asking to be unsubscribed is stupid. I think that the process is either not working or not being communicated properly. Please could you unsubscribe me and my fellow humans asking to be unsubscribed from the mailing list as soon as you can? Or do us all a favour and begin a new thread by asking those who want to remain on the list to resubscribe? This is surely tarnishing the locussonus name and it is actually quite distressing to be continually receiving these emails, especially after having unknowingly been subscribed in the first place.
Many thanks, Thea
