Thanks, and a server question

REVEIL was great. Hats off to the whole team. I especially love the addition of projects in recent years. This felt like a really meaningful way to connect the local and global - brief stops for intentional human-scale connection as the slow juggernaut of the main stream continues at global scale. It was rewarding to switch between these different ways of listening. Meanwhile, I've noticed frequent problems with my Pi streambox recently. Before I switch to my backup SD card I figured I'd ask if it could be server-related... Environment: Pi 2 Model B, Streambox version 0.2 (armv6) - working well for years Symptoms: Stream goes 404, then often comes back minutes or hours later. The streambox web frontend is responsive during this period, and if I restart the stream (in the Stream Status section) then everything connects. Here's a relevant section of the log: May 02 05:00:05 streambox darkice.sh[1096]: DarkIce: IceCast2.cpp:255: Icecast2 - forbidden. Is the mountpoint occupied, or maximum sources reached? [0] May 02 05:00:05 streambox systemd[1]: streambox-darkice.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=255/n/a May 02 05:00:10 streambox systemd[1]: Failed to start Locusonus Streambox Live Stream. Hi, I had the impression my stream was stable an didn’t had any interruptions. I was lucky it came later than planned on-air as I was still sleeping the moment it was scheduled … I don’t use a pi for my stream(s) I use a small cheap (100€) power friendly (24 watt) fanless (silent) windows 10 PC 4Gb ram, 32 Gb drive ( + 16 Gb stick for audio ) It has no screen, keyboard or mouse but is remote controlled by TIGHTVNC I use 2 Chinese brand dynamic microphones. They are in a wooden box. 2 sides are made of foam and acts as windscreens. The box is fixed on the backwall of our house. I had electrects in the past but learned that they got me into some problems after being for a long time in the cold of humid conditions. The dynamic ones run for al long time now without any side-effects. An USB EDIROL UA-25EX is my interface As you can see on the photo … it’s all a bit dusty … 3 programs active on this PC * DUC 4.11 to stay connected with the “www” as I have a dynamic IP address that changes out of my control * ICECAST2 v2.x as icecast server * REAPER as playback and live-input mixer it has some plug-ins running - 5 ICECAST clients ( I have some experimental streams running ) - compressor, eq, effect’s - 2 players I enclose a screen dump of it running. You find all my streams at http://planktone.be/streams/ ( plankklank, plankstroom, planktuin ) PLANKTUIN is our live garden PLANKKLANK is a live mix of 2 recordings from my personal sound library PLANKSTROOM & PLANKHUIS are experiments to have more streams running at the same time ( eg. our house ) and give the listener the opportunity to switch of mix between as she/he likes. It is/was a test for possible future projects. My network is configured to forward the port used by the ICECAST server to this PC I don’t know my stream was maybe (more) stable as I don’t use (I suppose) the SONUS server instead my own ICECAST server ? But it works … It is for sure possible on a pi ( or other LINUX computer ) too, but I don’t have the experience to do that … I need only to keep an eye on this PC at regular times and have it updated to have it running stable & save Grtz, w.

hi, I'm observing big latency and connection problems on the loacusonus streaming server. Is it a load / bandwidth problem? Can somebody confirm? Btw, he server has about 120 active listeners at the moment, half of them on http://locus.creacast.com:9001/FAR_AWAY_DANCE Udo

Streambox with Zoom H5

HI, Looking for help with using Streambox with RPi 4 and a Zoom H5 set up as an audio USB interface. When starting the Stream in Streambox I get the following error message: AUDIO ENCODER ERROR: CAN'T OPEN AUDIO DEVICE Rpi Is connected to network via ethernet Zoom H5 has USB configured for Audio interface Using a Rasperian OS – the RPi will detect and identify the Zoom H5, the Steambox wont. Any help is very much appreciated. Looking to use this roe Reveil this weekend. Regards, Anton

Dear all With apologies for cross postings. Next week from Saturday 05:00 UTC+1 to Sunday at 06:00 UTC+1, the 8th edition of the Reveil <https://soundtent.org/soundcamp_reveil.html> broadcast will make its way around the world on live audio streams, following the sunrise west. Reveil is composed from live streams provided by members of this list. Each one adds to the detail and variety of the loop. In case you have not had a chance, or would like to open an existing or new microphone in time for this project, we would welcome it for the broadcast! We will of course check the Locus Sonus server, where we expect many new streams to be appearing in the next days, and hopefully remaining longer. In addition, to be in synch on timing, and to be added to the Reveil timeline appearing shortly at soundtent.org/reveil <http://soundtent.org/reveil/>, there is the option to set up a profile page for your stream. This give listeners extra context and will be archived. That can be done from here <http://streams.soundtent.org/manage/streams> The broadcast goes out on some twenty FM and net radio stations, and is accompanied by a programme of projects from the Acoustic Commons network, available on the platform <http://soundtent.org/reveil/>.
