Dear all Thank you everybody who has prepared a stream and/or a soundcamp for this year’s transmission event. For those running a permeant stream on the Locus Sonus Server, please would you consider creating a stream page for your stream. (Note the new 'Environment / Surroundings / Habitat' field, especially if your page is based on one from last year.) Don't hesitate to let us know technical or other questions: contact(a)soundtent.org. To listen to Reveil from 05:00 UTC+1 on Saturday 3 May to 06:00 on Sunday, go to: soundtent.org.reveil. You can also listen at Wave Farm (our broadcast partner in the US), Resonance Extra (our UK parter) and a network of experimental and arts radio stations who are relaying the broadcast. Reveil / Soundcamp 12

Dear streamers The 12th edition of the Reveil 24 hour broadcast will happen over the dawn chorus day weekend of 3–4 May. Reveil is produced by Soundcamp in collaboration with Locus Sonus and the Acoustic Commons network. As in previous years, we warmly invite your live sounds for the broadcast. If you have streambox that is dormant, please consider getting it up and running. If you prefer to use a phone or a laptop, you can find a guide here: https://soundtent.org/stream/ Reveil runs on a dedicated site, based on pages set up by streamers each year. This provides context for listeners and is archived. If you would like to contribute to Reveil, please create a page for your stream: https://streams.soundtent.org/manage/ The page builder uses your location to calculate the time between first light and sunrise, when your stream will join the broadcast. The main stream server is back

Dear streamers, Our main streaming server is back up and running, and the automatic redirection has been removed. For those using this server to stream to the Locustream soundmap, everything should be back to normal. The server status page can be found at the original address: https://locus.creacast.com:9443 and your direct link / stream URL must again begin with: http://locus.creacast.com:9001 The temporary backup server [https://locusonus.org:9443/] will be closed in a few days without notification. If any of you are having problems streaming or appearing on the map, please send me a personal e-mail at the following address: stephane.cousot(a)locusonus.org Please do not reply to this message. The main stream server is down

Dear streamers, As some of you may have already noticed, our stream server went down last weekend, causing a malfunction on the Locustream project map. A temporary back-up server has been set up until the main server reopens. Redirection is automated, and a large number of streams are expected to be back up and running. However, if this is not the case for some of you, please send me a personal email to stephane.cousot(a)locusonus.org You'll be notified again when the official server will be active again (some time next week). In the meantime, the server status page can be viewed here: https://locusonus.org:9443/ Please do not reply to this message. (this mailinglist has trouble receiving your messages, sorry)

Server work at 16:00 CEST

Dear list A new accounts server has been installed at Locus Sonus. This addresses unreliable performance of the existing server in some cases. Many thanks to those here who have helped with testing. The new server seems to be working well and the dns will shortly be transferred to it. For most of us, the change will be quick and not very noticeable. In princlple it can take up to 24 hours for the new dns route to propagate through the internet, but in practice it will likely be much shorter. However, from 16:00 CEST some operations, such as changes to streambox configurations on the Locus Sonus admin page will be inaccessible. We will send an update when the process is complete. dear streamers, if you're planning to upgrade your raspberry pi to latest Raspi OS (Debian 12 / bookworm), be aware that it may completely break your sound system. Just have spent hours to debug two Debian 12 based installs from https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/, one was working, the other not. Difference between both was the kernel version, the working one is < 6.6, the broken one above that version. Unfortunately that comes with a simple system update/upgrade. Reveil 2024 – workshop, page, announcing..

As many of us know, this is a live collective transmission project that follows live streams around the earth around sunrise, creating a sonic loop over one day. As ever, we warmly welcome your new and returning streams. Reveil over 4 to 5 May 2024 AND Server testing - call for help

Dear all on the list Ahead of the Reveil daybreak broadcast over the first weekend of May, a new accounts server is being set up for the Locus Sonus streams. It would be great to have help to test the server from different locations. This involves some basic work with the command line and a quick feedback. If you 'd be prepared to help, we would be grateful. Please reply here and we will send details. Meanwhile.. Streaming with a bela?

Hi! did anybody already tried to stream with a bela (bela.io)? Somebody asked me to install a permanent stream and I wonder if it could be a solution. RPi seems not 100% reliable to me... thank you! rph-r
