I need help configuring a wireless streambox to stream over my wireless network, which requires a password to access.
I looked at the FAQ and also the video at http://www.vimeo.com/2236743
I also have Mac (OS 10.6.4).
Thank you.

wep, wap?
also, wireless tends to be very unstable, hence is not usually recommended for streaming.

that video doesnt covers setting up a wireless network, plus is too old and perhaps misleading (hence i just removed it).

you need nothing more than the streambox itself to do it. either via the network utility or via command line, of course it helps if you understand a bit what you are doing instead of just copy pasting commands.
Thank you.
it might help to look at some of this videos: http://www.google.ch/search?hl=en&tbs=vid:1&q=network+wireless+ubunt...
also, it might be better if i send you a new system and you replace the CF card on your streambox.

Well, I can't think of a better solution. I need keep the windows closed during to conserve heat and money.

This streambox is a new one. It was sent us at SAIC. Robb Drinkwater said we can't use the wireless one at SAIC because of the firewall the school has. That means we have to run it on ethernet through a special router. I am swapping my old box with the new one. The new one is hooked up now via ethernet: http://locus.creacast.com:9001/chicago_westside.ogg

my advice, obvious one, is that when you are behind such tigh networks (strict firewalls, etc) you should then get in touch with the network admin, he/she will most likely get your config running in a breeze.
also, wireless tends to be very unstable, hence is not usually recommended for streaming.

you see (guessing here), is most likely that port 8000 is closed and that the network admin will not be willing to open it in fear of a terrorist act, then is not at all a problem of the streambox, the best thing is asking whoever the network admin is how to go about it, else you are being blocked inside a room.
theres a newer system, as said i can send you a CF card with it if you provide me your postal address.

This may be a dumb question, but do these wireless stream boxes have line level inputs, or can they optionally use USB sound devices? I already have microphones outside my house that have taken quite a lot of abuse over the past ten months, and don't seem to mind. They're just a pair of Behringer XM8500 dynamics on a stereo bar, though they work for this kind of thing quite well. Currently, I'm feeding these mics into a Yamaha MG124C console with a bit of dynamic compression, then out to a box streaming to an Icecast2 server, though I'd like to make this a part of Locustream. I figure it might be easier to set up one of these stream boxes than playing with Pure Data under Windows, etc. I signed up last summer, but have sense forgot my info.
P.S. Although it obviously can't go on the map in this configuration, for anyone interested in how my stream currently sounds, see http://fx.pdaudio.net:8888/outside.ogg.m3u

please do, im sure it will help, cause i havent done it plus over internet it becomes a bit like wild guessing.
also, it might be better if i send you a new system and you replace the CF card on your streambox.
This streambox is a new one. It was sent us at SAIC. Robb Drinkwater said we can't use the wireless one at SAIC because of the firewall the school has. That means we have to run it on ethernet through a special router. I am swapping my old box with the new one. The new one is hooked up now via ethernet:http://locus.creacast.com:9001/chicago_westside.ogg
you see (guessing here), is most likely that port 8000 is closed and that the network admin will not be willing to open it in fear of a terrorist act, then is not at all a problem of the streambox, the best thing is asking whoever the network admin is how to go about it, else you are being blocked inside a room.
theres a newer system, as said i can send you a CF card with it if you provide me your postal address.
