REVEIL was great. Hats off to the whole team. I especially love the addition of projects in recent years. This felt like a really meaningful way to connect the local and global - brief stops for intentional human-scale connection as the slow juggernaut of the main stream continues at global scale. It was rewarding to switch between these different ways of listening.
Meanwhile, I've noticed frequent problems with my Pi streambox recently. Before I switch to my backup SD card I figured I'd ask if it could be server-related...
Environment: Pi 2 Model B, Streambox version 0.2 (armv6) - working well for years
Symptoms: Stream goes 404, then often comes back minutes or hours later. The streambox web frontend is responsive during this period, and if I restart the stream (in the Stream Status section) then everything connects. Here's a relevant section of the log:
May 02 05:00:05 streambox darkice.sh[1096]: DarkIce: IceCast2.cpp:255: Icecast2 - forbidden. Is the mountpoint occupied, or maximum sources reached? [0] May 02 05:00:05 streambox systemd[1]: streambox-darkice.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=255/n/a May 02 05:00:10 streambox systemd[1]: Failed to start Locusonus Streambox Live Stream. May 02 05:00:11 streambox systemd[1]: Unit streambox-darkice.service entered failed state. May 02 05:00:11 streambox systemd[1]: streambox-darkice.service failed.

I also experienced issues, mainly a lot of reconnections. This is annoying for who play the stream with a simple web player, which doesn't auto reconnect. I use a RPi 4 with Streambox 4.0-dev

Yes, I too experienced a lot of drop outs throughout the day, from the start, with odd lack of synchronization. Listening through the web on my laptop. Many of the individual stream pages that I went to would not play through the built-in player control. Some of them played fine. There were some amazingly good quality streams. But the drop out issue (sometimes resolved by a page refresh, sometimes not) did sort of lose me.
As for my own stream (super basic stream using iPhone, Locus cast and a hotspot) I found that lowering the bit depth (“Audio quality”) reduced any drop outs on my end. But it was hard to know if the stream was being affected by server drop outs. I don’t think my stream ever made it onto the curated broadcast.
