The microphone I'm using is an inexpensive condenser mic element that requires a capacitor, resistor, a switch, and 9 volt battery for power. I followed a schematic from Nic Collins's book (Handmade Electronic Music: The Art of Hardware Hacking) and soldered the components together. I've been surprised at how well it sounds and how long the battery lasts.

When it started raining, I simply placed a little plastic bag over the mic.

My stream is "chicago_westside_421ndrake"
