Pardon me if this had already been answered, but I'll ask again. Does anyone know why the streams using locus.creacast.com play for only a few seconds, then stop for several seconds, play for a second, continuing so on and forth?
The other streams not using locus.creacast.com are fine.
Hum,
This doesn't seem to be the case for me listening in France - there are occasional drops on some streams but it is certainly not systematic. Would this imply that there is some slowdown on the transatlantic connection (since the server is situated in France)? Is this happening all the time on all locus.creacast steams? Is anybody else experiencing this? If you are, we will ask the service provider about it.
Best Peter

Hi Grant,
I'm glad the streams using locus.creacast.com are fine. Since the problem presents only for me, I guess the interrupted audio must be an issue with my ISP. It puzzled me on Sunday because the others streams were fine. However, I didn't listen try to all of them, only the streams in Japan and Dustin's, in Greensboro.
To listen, I'm using the current version of Firefox on a 2011 MacBook Pro, with an ethernet connection. The ISP is Comcast and data rate is supposed to be near 50mbps.
All the best, Eric

Have you tried routing your connection through a VPN or proxy server? I have often done this to diagnose weird connection problems. I route specific things through one of my VPSs because I get better routes, and thus, better throughput to those destinations fthen my ISP offers by default.

Hi Eric
That sounds about like my setup. Firefox and Chrome both usually work well with the map.
It might be useful to run a test of your download speeds with eg speedtest. Then use that to raise with the ISP if that is the problem.
I guess the usual things like rebooting computers, routers, modems, changing ethernet ports and cables.. all that stuff
Good luck with resolving it.

Pardon me if this had already been answered, but I'll ask again. Does anyone know why the streams using locus.creacast.com http://locus.creacast.com play for only a few seconds, then stop for several seconds, play for a second, continuing so on and forth?
The other streams not using locus.creacast.com http://locus.creacast.com are fine.

Hey,
The locus.creacast.com streams have been working now for the past couple weeks.
A lot of other people in chicago I asked to check were experiencing the same issue I was. But, it's not an issue as far as I can tell.
Unfortunately, I had no time to tinker with routing my connection through a VPN or proxy server.
I'm curious. Does anyone know what may have changed?
All the best, Eric

Hum,
This doesn't seem to be the case for me listening in France - there are occasional drops on some streams but it is certainly not systematic. Would this imply that there is some slowdown on the transatlantic connection (since the server is situated in France)? Is this happening all the time on all locus.creacast steams? Is anybody else experiencing this? If you are, we will ask the service provider about it.
Best Peter

Hi Eric,
No, we have no idea - we spent a day trying to get a stream to malfunction on the creacast server but didn’t manage, except when streaming super high quality stereo and that was on the streambox (raspberry pi) encoding end and not on the server (we will however try to fix this). Anyway the problem seems to have been localized in Chicago so my guess is that there might have been some kind of slowdown in traffic somewhere between Paris and Chicago, however I don’t know enough about internet architecture to speculate on this. The provider hosting our (dedicated) server also hosts french national radio and have, to all intents and purposes, unlimited bandwidth, so it is unlikely that it was on their end, however, please let us know if anything like this happens again and we will contact them.
In the meantime stream away!
best Peter

SHould that happen again, it would be worth knowing what the route looks like between you and the server on a traceroute. The prime suspects for breaking routes like that tend to be Cogent and Level3. I had some VPSs in Texas. I’m in New York. In order to get to one of them, I had to go from New York, to Seattle, then back to Texas, increasing the latency by two times the normal amount and slowing things down unnecessarily, all because a router at Level3 said it was a good idea. Another VPS in the same datacenter took a much more direct route through Softlayer. Because I couldn’t control what level3 was doing, I decided to put the more useful of the two VPSs on the IP that went through Softlayer and destroy the other one, which instantly fixed all my problems.
Just something to keep in mind.
