Happy June 1st! This is my latest newsletter since 2013. Much has happened since then, but I'll try to be brief and mention only few things I hope you may find interesting.
Though its enrollment is already full, I am leading a field recording workshop this Thursday, June 4 in Hamburg, Germany. It is one of many workshops, performances, and exhibits in the “klingt gut!” Symposium on Sound (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2...) . While in Hamburg, I am also performing on Saturday, June 6 at Centro Sociale in Frequenzgänge #52. This is part of the Blurred Edges Festival (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2d...) and one of many dates on my EU concert/lecture tour. To see my tour dates and locations please visit my "what's new" page (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2d...) . From here you can listen to audio and read about my recent radio projects with Radius (Episode 63) and Home Radiation, live at Defibrillator Gallery with Anna Friz and Jeff Kolar. Updates on my EU tour are posted, including stops in Central Europe.
Next, you are invited to participate in this year's World Listening Day on July 18. Its theme is “H2O.” Water is a significant global and local concern we addressed at the Balance-Unbalance 2015 (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2d...) conference at the end of March. Lastly, in addition to my regular President's reports in the online World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE) (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2d...) News Quarterly, I have been writing many articles for various blogs and journals. I'll just mention a few. "Sound and Listening: Beyond the Wall of Broadcast Sound" was published in April 2015, in the Journal of Radio and Audio Media (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2d...) . Next will be "Our Sonic Playground: A Model for Active Engagement in Urban Soundscapes" for the Journal of Urban Cultural Studies, and "Acoustic Ecology and Ethical Listening," for the Conrad Grebel Review. I'll also take this opportunity to mention that the next edition of the WFAE's Soundscape: The Journal of Acoustic Ecology is nearly complete, and due out this month. Volume 14's focus is “Canacoustica: Canadian Perspectives on Environment and Sound.”

An intimate performance demonstration of Eric Leonardson’s Springboard, a self-built instrument made from coil springs, wood, and other everyday objects, amplified by a single piezoelectric contact microphone. Its diverse and unusual sounds belie its humble origins. Leonardson built the Springboard in 1994 and has since performed with many artists locally, nationally, and internationally.
