........................................................................ ...................... 1/ Week 26th of April to 3rd of May - Hong-Kong
Locus Sonus is participating in the Around - Listening Places Festival in Hong-Kong. Locustream Audio Tardis : Designed as a listen-in event, a 2-hours sequence of available streams from the Locustream project will be played on the rooftop of a building downtown Hong-Kong (Foo Tak Building in Wan Shai Hong-Kong). The cyclical sequence will successively play the live streams for around 7 mn each. A simple video-image showing the name of the location and of the streamer will be be projected during each sequence. On Wednesday the 29th of April, Jerome Joy will do a lecture on Locus Sonus projects at the Hong-Kong Academy for Performing Arts (7pm). This series is initiated by the non-profit organization SoundPocket

........................................................................ ...................... 2/ Week from 14th to 20th of May - Paris
Locus Sonus is participating in the big exhibition La Force de l'Art in Paris. Locus Sonus : Locustream Audio Tardis A live journey through a worldwide network of open microphones : A rapid, imaginary journey between various open mikes of the Locustream project, initiated by the Locus Sonus lab. All the sounds that you hear were transmitted live from the distant locations where volunteers taking part in the project have set up microphones which permanently stream their chosen soundscape via the web. By switching from stream to stream and automatically sequencing the sound diffusion of each available Locustream webmics, we propose an analogy to the actual listening experience which you can experience for yourself on the Locustream SoundMap if you chose to listen to the Locus Sonus streams on a daily basis. This series is initiated by the non-profit organization Synesthesie, http://cav.synesthesie.com/

Locus Sonus is participating in the big exhibition La Force de l'Art 02 in Paris. Locus Sonus : Locustream Audio Tardis A live journey through a worldwide network of open microphones : A rapid, imaginary journey between various open mikes of the Locustream project, initiated by the Locus Sonus lab. Hi all
Thank you to all to have been present online the day long for the yesterday presentation of the Locustream Tardis in Paris. We will put some documentary images on our web site.
Here the list of the streams which were played by the Tardis. It is in fact the (almost?) integral list of the yesterday alive streams.

.......................... LOCUSTREAM PROMENADE IN AIX EN PROVENCE We're currently preparing a next presentation in Aix en Provence in the middle of June. The Locustream Promenade (a sound installation in public space with parabolic loudspeakers, each one of them diffusing a stream) will be shown in Aix downtown. So thanks for maintaining alive your streams these next weeks, that will be easy enough for those whose use the streambox (or whose will receive it very soon), and for the others thank you for facilitating the installation of a dedicated machine as long as possible.
Any feedback is welcome, relative to your experience of streaming and of listening to the other streams.
.......................... It seems that on Saturday the streams have been played also during the DroniPhonia concert at SARC in Belfast : http://transition.turbulence.org/networked_music_review/2009/05/14/ live-stage-pauline-oliveros-at-sonorities-festival-belfast/#more-4538
Here is the presentation : Pauline Oliveros at Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music — Droniphonia with iPHONES, Spatialization, Streaming environments and Multiple Instruments (2009) :: May 16, 2009;7:30 pm :: SARC, Harty Room and the Whitla Hall, Queen’s University, Belfast.
Droniphonia is based on the iPHONE application Srutibox by Henry Lowengard with environmental streams from Locus Sonus. Concept by Pauline Oliveros. Droniphonia has polytonal drones continually morphing timbres, volumes and fundamentals moving in space. Networked musicians (Belfast, Banff and Troy NY) listen to the drones and develop gradually overlapping improvised sounds and phrases - first solo and then between two or three players at a time in a slowly growing density and texture. Different musical characters appear unexpectedly from time to time out of no where on a one time basis. Finally all players weave their way in and out of the droneophony sharing the unknown finale.
Players: Pedro Rebelo - iPHONE/piano :: Franziska Schroeder - soprano saxophone :: Gascia Ouzounian - violin :: Manuela Meier - accordion :: Justin Yang - saxophone :: Pauline Oliveros - iPHONE/ bandoneon :: Doug Van Nort (Troy NY) - laptop :: Chris Chafe (Banff. Alberta) - iPHONE/celleto :: Spatialization and mix by Chris Corrigan.
I'm waiting for a report from SARC and I'll forward to you more informations related to this past Saturday event.
regards Jerome
