Hello,
I wonder, could the owner/administrator of the Locustream named "chicago_northside" correct either their location or stream name to more accurately reflect where it actually is placed, please?
Currently it is located in Chicago's downtown, loop area, not on the "North side".
As Jerome mentioned, you can type your address in, in the admin page. Or, to be more accurate, find your longitude and latitude and enter that just below the address box.
All the best, Eric
Hi
it's ok I've asked to Chad the permission to delete two inactive accounts : _northside and _uptown it's done the sky is now clearer than yesterday
Nevertheless we must find a graphical solution for locations where there are several streams very close to one another.
Second point, I've worked all this day on the update of these very important pages : http://locusonus.org/w/index.php?page=Locustream+Guidelines http://locusonus.org/w/index.php?page=Locustream+Streambox+FAQ and this next one : http://locusonus.org/w/index.php?page=locusmic
thanks for correcting my English if you find some roughness
I hope that helps
best Jerome

Nice'n'tidy. Thanks!

I seem to recall finding my longitude/latitutde coordinates using google maps...
I googled "longitude and latitude finder" and see that there are a number of sites on the web. This one was first: http://stevemorse.org/jcal/latlon.php
...also:
Lat - Long Finder: This page helps you find Latitude and Longitude: http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm
Does anyone know of a (preferably free) widget that finds longitude/latitutde coordinates?
Second point, I've worked all this day on the update of these very important pages : http://locusonus.org/w/index.php?page=Locustream+Guidelines
In the first step it says "(or choose "open a locustream webmic" from the RESS menu above)." If I do this I see this menu... RESS menu
Is it correct to select "ouvrez à un des projets Locus Sonus" then?
If yes, maybe the menu selection should read, if it's proper to say, "ouvrez à un locustream webmic."
I'd like to look over the instructions more carefully, but I've run out of time here...will try to return as soon as I can.

Hi Jerome,
I'm still not able to get my stream working...it works when I visit the URL of my stream (http://locus.creacast.com:9001/Ann-Arbor.ogg) but it never shows up as active on the SoundMap. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...also, it seems to keep feeding back (I'm using the built- in microphone on my laptop for portability's sake, I'm not sure if that has something to do with it or not).
Sorry for the hassles, wish I could figure this out!
Best,
John

yes you can connect to the server and to send a stream you can listen to but your streamname is wrong
if I look at the database, you must type on your streambox patch : ann_arbor_Ann Arbor (be careful you keep a blank space between the second Ann and Arbor, I hope it will work, not sure ...) and you'll be on the map !
and advice : go back again on your account page, and put on the location required field : AnnArbor (without space) thus you'll see your new streamname : ann_arbor_AnnArbor and I guess this will be more secure (because of Linux characters recognition, computers do not like blank spaces ;-) and report this new streamname in the patch on your streambox.
ok ?
thanks jerome

Hi all
I moved my microphone to a better site in front of my house. The sound capture corresponds to the lively environment on the square of my village in the South of France, 40km from Nice. I'll put very soon some pictures on the soundmap. They are still some cuts (every 13 or 15 mn) because of an annoying unstable DSL extended connection, I should fix this issue in some hours (I'm using a liveplug extension, ie a system of Internet conveyance by electricity, but it seems to be not completely reliable while using power strips, nevertheless it's very useful. I must improve this part). In order to compare with the LocusMic, I use a very tiny and cheap microphone (I don't remember from where it comes), it seems to be a little bit more "agressive" and in consequence less balanced than the LocusMic. But I think it's more adapted to this sound environment. Sound is raw & unadulterated, without use of filters.
Comments are welcome !
best jerome
Hi John,
my yesterday message was maybe not enough clear, a lot of work on yesterday, I haven't come to yet. you must create your streamname as simple as possible. The model skeleton is : city_location.ogg, so put in your account registration form the most simple and recognizable names. For instance, the city could be : ann_arbor and you must choose a simple name for your location : the name of your quarter or of your street Thus you can obtain something like this : ann_arbor_quarter.ogg
Thanks for not typing accentuated characters or specific ones (like hyphen, space, apostrophe, and so on).
After saving your modifications on your account page, you can report on your patch the exact streamname.
thanks jerome
