On a more sober note, does anybody know what to do when the Alix streambox repeatedly fails to boot?
It always stops after the line
Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok
I think EDD is not the problem. The problem is elsewhere. A quick search looks like it might be a little complicated.
Any advice before we tackle it?
We are also thinking we might spend our time on the new Pibox instead

That's a kernel message. Is quite strange you are seeing that since all the clones should replicate it.
My far guess is... SD card broken (old), new kernel boot parameters(?).
Either way, I believe that what you said might be best... Invest time on the rPi so to finally update the system.
