Just to say it finally worked very well with the Sonosax (concerning the sound capture).

Thank you!
yesterday I updated the system (sudo pacman -Syu), and after that it worked, then I tried different configurations and restarted some times, then it didn't work at all with the same diagnostic. But I had always both devices in the list, sometimes IQ, sometimes Sonosax selected.
Now I commented the IQ dtoverlay line, and it seems to work fine. I'll test for some hours and turn back here for report.
bests!

Ok, it's good to know that the IQAudio module active this card in listing without the hat !
Comments the line 49 (below) in the //boot/config.txt/ file to disable this module, i.e. add a '#' at the beginning of this line, save of course, and reboot if you work on SSH (this can also done from your computer).

Hi Raphael,
This version is not fully finalised, the virtual device feature is probably broken.
If you would like to use both the IQaudIO + the Sonosax, I think you must configure ALSA manually for now. If not, remove the IQaudIO hat to free resources / automations and try only with your USB audio device. ALSA fails to configure some controls, the I/O error could be due to a low power on USB. (also try with the different USB entry)
If this is not enough, reset ALSA states and optionally customise some controls:
- enter the Pi (via SSH)
- revert all to the default state: sudo alsactl init
- (option) adjust controls: sudo alsamixer
- (option) save your config: sudo alsactl store

Thank you Stef,
I tried _V.4.0 unstable_: now I can see my device (and 3 others), select and configure it in webinterface. Alsamixer also list it.

Hi Raphael,
You're right, the distrib. should natively supports USB audio class (2.0 for the Sonosax). The system on the streambox is strictly the minimum, maybe something is missing, but can't find what without a similar device. The one coming with the version 3.1 have one or two years now, maybe try with a newer kernel/system, i.e. the unstable version 4.0.
note, some USB audio hardware is known not to work properly when plugged into USB 3 ports so try USB 2/1 ports instead (in case)
best,
