Hello all
This might be a good time to flag up 2 upcoming dates:
1. From 16 - 18 APR in Aix, Locus Sonus will be holding Symposium 8 on audio mobility [info]. This even coincides with new work to update the Locus Streammap, develop new Raspberry Pi based streamboxes and new streaming applications for mobile devices.
2. From 3-4 MAY in London, we will transmit REVEIL, a 24 hour broadcast of the sounds of daybreak around the world. The transmission will be from a soundCamp at Stave Hill Ecology Park and will bring together permanent microphones on the Locus network with transient and mobile streams provided for the occasion, and streams from other sources and projects. The broadcast will go out on Wavefarm and Free 103.9 FM in Accra, NY, Resonance FM in London, and low power FM, and is open for other stations to pick up.
Both these events seem like good opportunities to showcase the Locus Sonus network and its key place in the quickly evolving field of live streaming audio, whether re mobile audio, and | or from the ecological angle of reveil / soundCamp, or many other standpoints.
It would be great if streamers past present and future could consider getting hold of a Pi or other equipment and building or rebuilding a stream. We have pre-formatted SD cards for the Pi's which run over wifi and are designed with usability and reliability in mind. We are happy to provide support: in general, and especially in the run-up to these events.
