and here's the pi setup in london camberwell with icicle usb interface and the disk image from gregoire our audio still stutters and periodically drops our for a few seconds - if that sounds familiar to anybody, please let us know
what streaming software do you use? darkice seems to perform with about 30-50% load on the PI without glitches, if the network is reliable. so plenty of resources available, e.g. for a webserver ;)
That is about the amount of cpu usage reported with the PureData patch we have been trying. The network works fine for all kinds of stuff, so I don't think that's the problem. I think maybe there are some settings in the Alsa Mixer or the patch which need fine tuning.. will need some more time
i've made a cheap remote control for the PI, so that i can switch on/off streaming, reboot etc. from a smartphone web-app. it uses openvpn, ssh and phpseclib to establish a sort of console for selected commands (stream start/stop, poweroff, reboot etc.) along with the builtin hardware watchdog of the PI that should give a quite reliable unit. to test...
what i'm really looking for is a mini stereo usb preamp that supports plugin-power, so that you can connect a pair of electrets like the primo, wm61a, okm etc.
same here
recorders like the Olympus LS5 or zoom H2 work OK, but make the setup rather expensive.
exactly - whereas apart from that, esp with wifi and/or 3G, this has the makings of a cost effective solution.
thanks bw grant
