thanks - i will test this later on, to connect metal case with streambox case etcetera... 
something tells me it might be something else though... the same phenomena - the heavily buzzing/hum/noise seems to come recardless i run the cheap mono computer mike or the the more expensive sony stereo.

 and it worked rather well - just until some day(s) ago. (i think).
now i switched to this "not so good" computer microphone just outside the window in a plastic bag - and are running this from a pd patch... it´s raining now, so it is rather harsh sounds all over... cars running by    
anyway... it seems to be working now with the Pd patch.

hi Björn,

i think i had a similar thing once with the provided mic, not sure.
but i think i eliminated it by connecting all metal shields, i.e.
connect the mic's ground/case with the one of the cable.
