yes, in the search for crisp audio peter had a very interesting phantom usb powered mic that loaded under linux:

might help avoid the need of the extra cabled device namely.. the sound card for sound capture.

well, sure... but i want to hear crispy stereo ;) would be nice to have at least the possibility to connect a recorder like the zoom or olympus to it, they are also call compliant audio devices. --udo
not familiar (yet) with the PI, does it have usb, i.e. to connect an audio device, usb-mic etc.? that would be quite cool...
