I just thought I would share a different type of setup that might appeal to those who are good with field recording equipment but maybe not so good with Raspberry Pi and tablet/phone.
I use a Toughbook Laptop running Reaper and ShoutVST streaming plugin. input side has stereo pair of DPA 4060 lavs mounted on a plywood board with various furries. The interface is a Sound Devices mix-pre6. Computer and interface are stored in a plastic box with a thick blanket inside for cold winter temps.
Sound quality is great. ShoutVST is not so great. The main issue is that when internet checks out the plugin does not reconnect automatically when internet is restored. I live in a rural place with Satellite internet so this is s frequent issue. The feed from router has to be wifi rather wired due to physical limits.
I could use Butt for the streaming but I like having the implementation within Reaper to use other plugins for signal processing.
So for now it is a choice of quality over quantity.
With this setup I can also remove the computer and record in locations without internet. The toughbook though has capability for cellular card but I haven't shelled out the money for that yet. Also its battery life may not last as long. I get 14 hrs of clean power for the mix pre on a usb3 charger.

For my feed on locusonus look for South River Warbler's Roost in Central Ontario, Canada. Just a bit north west on the map from Zac's pond feed.
Cheers Darren

Do you have any experiences with it? I wonder if it is compatible with LocusSonus RPI distribution?
thanks michal

hi Grant,
Greetings from blue and sunny Berlin. I hope all is very well.
The workshop is a great idea. I’d certainly like to join in.
I’ve been thinking of setting up Raspberry pi streaming for a while and with time on my hands this seems a good moment.
Which of the R.pi versions available do you recommend? I probably wouldn't use it for anything but the streaming.
All wishes Stay well Peter
