Ah yes, the wireless issue hasn't been resolved completely. I'm copying this message to Alejo who might be able to help, but honestly the simplest and most reliable solution is probably to get someone to open a ethernet port.
Hi all, few things to say.. 1st.. on my streaming experience i tend to avoid wireless precisely cause of stability issues. The streambox (on the alix computer) is already quite old, 2008, http://soup.znerol.ch/en/node/73
It is certainly possible to get a wireless card running, most often is just editing a text file where one configures a fixed IP or a DCHP request on the particular network interface.. so this can be done at boot time automatically. In some other revisions of the streambox it required compiling a linux kernel, I think this is what August Black did. Can't remember now.
I think it could be nice to refresh all this with updated hardware, either using a beagle bone or going the oggstreamer path. http://oggstreamer.wordpress.com/
Lastly since we had one solution to stream via cable connection, most of the non-conventional locations that require unique network and wireless configs became something to solve and study per case.
I would like to explore the http://beagleboard.org/Products/BeagleBone%20Black might well be the way to go when adding one of those USB mics that Peter uses. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OSP-USB-Microphone-Adapter-w-Phantom-Power-/20093590...
Aware this all might not help you at all Robin, please consider getting and old laptop you could leave connected and run the pd patch form it or share the wireless network over the eth cable connection.. not to friendly on power economy but could also work.
