I am (was) struggling with some of these problems too

I found a nice solution with the use of a RASP zero & Raspberry Pi Shield - HiFi Stereo Sound-HAT, WM8960

It has 2 MEMS mic’s on board

I had it running as test ( backup ) lats REVEIL and it worked great

I think the sound is OK ( my other set with dynamic mic’s and USB interface ) sounds better … but is sounds OK in my opinion

I used a baffle to make the stereo image wider

I did not used the Sonus image, had a own icecast server running on the rasp

Easy & cheap ( +/- 40€ to have it running )
