Grant suggested I try some changes, and this is what I've done: In /boot/streambox.txt - changed to soundcard=0 - Added login, wifi details In /boot/config.txt - added dtoverlay=iqaudio-codec In /etc/dhcpcd.conf - added static domain_name_servers=8.8.4.4 8.8.8.8 Also verified that the streambox server comes up on a different rpi, so the config is correct, it's just not working with the rpi zero w? is there a system change that breaks wifi for my rpi zero w maybe? Thanks very much, Trevor That sounds really promising. As you say, there are good databases of birds -- xeno-canto is actually pretty global in scope. Other sounds are probably less well organised. We have contacts on this topic. Buenas tardes queridos colegas de locución, Escribo este correo para pedirles apoyo en la transmisión qué haremos en el Pacífico Colombiano el día 10 de septiembre a la 1pm. Se trata de un concierto para el mundo entero del canto de las ballenas jorobadas que arriban a estas aguas cada año. La comunidad local y un grupo de amigos estaremos facilitando los equipos de registro subacuático. Nos preguntamos si es posible a través de su plataforma poder hacer la transmisión de este hermoso evento submarino. He estado haciendo pruebas y veo que con facilidad se cae la señal, no sé si sea posible para ese día garantizar una buena capacidad para un número amplio de usuarios indeterminados, y que otras recomendaciones nos puedan dar para poder evitar problemas técnicos en la transmisión. Hi Trevor and thanks for getting back to us. Concerning the issues during Reveil, thank you for pointing this out and yes we are aware that there where problems and apologise if it spoiled the event for anyone. It was due to two factors - one is that the service provider has limited the traffic to the locus mountpoint - we were not aware of this before (possibly becasue we had never hit the limit ) but it is rectifiable by announcing upcoming events to Creacast.com. The other problem is due to the architecture of the timeline page for Reveil which means that everytime someone updates the page it pings all the mountpoints including those which are not active because destined to be used for a performance at a specific time. We will fix these issues before the next soundcamp reveil. In the meantime it shouldn't be a problem for the soundwalk we are planning which is spread over several weeks (we are not expecting thousands of users at the same time). streambox noise issues

Hi, I have installed a streambox on Sherkin Island off the coast of Cork, Ireland. When I installed it, it was very windy, and I didn't get to do a proper sound check in situ. Stream is here: http://locus.creacast.com:9001/sherkin_north_shore.mp3 There is some quiet digital noise in the background. the streambox is mounted distant from the mics. I have SSH access. is there anything I can tweak remotely to address this noise? Thanks! Aidan

stream to mp3, not ogg

Hi, I notice some of the streams on the soundmap are on an mp3 mountpoint, not ogg, for example, http://locus.creacast.com:9001/chania_ffpp_museum_stream.mp3 instead of https://locus.creacast.com:9443/brighton_rastrick_viaduct.ogg. Where do I change the darkice config to steam to mp3 format instead of ogg? I want to be able to link the stream from a webpage and stream it easily on safari/ios.. Aidan

Hello all I've been running a test stream off grid in my backyard (http://locus.creacast.com:9001/stream_demo.mp3) for a few days. This is along the lines of the temporary streams discussed here already. It adds a small solar power unit.
