[locustream] mt meru stream

Hi all We have a new stream on the map from the slopes of Mt Meru in Tanzania. This is in the back yard of the ornithologist James Wolstonecroft, set up in association with Lars Johansson at Maweni Farm. http://locus.creacast.com:9001/mount_meru.ogg It's nighttime there now, pretty quiet, feint voices and music and the odd motorcycle and dog. Actually very nice.. This a mono stream with the Pi B, Icicle soundcard and Superlux ECM-999 using soundcamp image dated NOV 2014. The stream is set to recover from frequent internet and power outages.. will need to see how it goes and how expensive it is to run bw grant

I hope my news finds you well, and that you may find some of it interesting, if not vital. GSSN Grassland Soundscapes Workshop I am participating in the Global Sustainable Soundscapes Network (GSSN) Grasslands Soundscape Workshop, at the Crane Trust (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b…) in Nebraska and South Dakota State University. “The workshop will include talks and interactive experiences led by both conference organizers and attendees on crane conservation, time-lapse studies, cultural and natural resources management, remote sensing, and a host of other topics.” GSSN started in 2011 with the core aim of bringing together people from landscape ecology and conservation biology, from the creative arts, and scientists that study sound and its perception to “…coordinate studies in diverse soundscapes around the world.” With this we hope a transdisciplinary approach to the understanding of complex phenomenon, for discovering effective ways to address some wicked problems. The 2015 GSSN Grasslands Soundscape Workshop (http://ericleonardson.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cb00ffcc8ceff2b13b2…) began on Monday, July 13, in partnerships with the Crane Trust, the Platte Basin Time-lapse Project, the EROS USGS Data Center, and the South Dakota State University Oak Lake Research Station. On Tuesday, I participated in a roundtable with Chris Bocast, Paul Dickinson, Matthew Briggs, Andrea Stevens, and others on performance art strategies. On Friday afternoon I give a brief talk on “ways of listening.” The five-day workshop concludes on Friday, July 18, World Listening Day 2015. World Listening Day “H[2]O” You are invited to participate in World Listening Day 2015, an annual global event held on July 18. This year’s theme for World Listening Day is “H[2]O”. President's Report on July-September 2015 WFAE Newsletter My President’s Report for the online newsletter of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology has published in the organization's online newsletter. To summarize its points, the 2014 Canacoustica edition of Soundscape: The Journal for Acoustic Ecology is nearly ready for delivery to members and library subscribers, this journal will transition to a digital format. The feature article is by Ricardo Huisman on tactile sound sculptures for children. The WFAE Quarterly News is a supplement to the WFAE’s annual Soundscape: The Journal for Acoustic Ecology. Please bookmark and read the newsletter, it is full of resources as well as information about current and upcoming activities in the WFAE and the field of acoustic ecology. [locustream] reconciling browser access

Hello, I could be wrong, but suspect that Safari on a Mac running OS 10.9 (my system) requires some adjustments. Firefox works perfectly. I'm also informed that the map won't load on an iPad for a user accessing from Germany and Norway. [locustream] Pi reboot vs. power on/off?

Sorry to bother you about this. I shutdown the Pi using the stream admin page, so i could use the mic record the wind and waves outside, now the mic is reconnected. Now the reboot won't work. I've tried rebooting at least a dozen or more times over the past three or more hours. The admin page says, "Your stream box is not responding. Please check your connections..." etc. Those connections are all as they were before when it was working fine. Should I just unplug and replug the power supply then try it, or will that burn the place down? :-/ It's running Peter's Locusonus OS. Thanks in advance for your advice.
