[locustream] Locuscast stream app for Android + Reveil this weekend

Dear Streamers, This weekend sees the first edition of Reveil a 24 hour Dawn Chorus project by Grant Smith.Reveil is largely dependent on the Locusonus streams. So if you can get yours up and running that would be greatly appreciated. More info: http://soundcamp.self-noise.net/ To make this easier we have developed an app for Android telephones which you can download here. http://locusonus.org/downloads/ Once you have installed the app you simply enter your locustream map login and pass and you can start steaming. If you enable GPS, your stream location will be updated automatically on the map. For those of you who are willing to get up before dawn on Saturday you are strongly encouraged to stream from a remote location (as long as you have 3G or WiFi coverage). Please be sure that you only connect to your account with one device at a time More details concerning the app installation: /The Locuscast app for android allows you to stream a 44.100 mono oggvorbis stream to the locustream soundmap from your android device. It will automatically locates your stream on the map using GPS. An iOS version will be available soon. / /After downloading locustream app navigate to you downloads folder and click the locuscast.apk to install. Be sure that 'Unknown sources' is enabled in security settings./ /Once the app is installed you simply need to enter your locus sound map identity and password, enable location functions (GPS) and you can start streaming. / /You will obtain better results by using an external microphone. I'm not at Cimatics anymore but just discovered the android app and i would like to set up a stream from Ghent Belgium.. but i need an account then. Later i would like to set up a stream from a raspberry pi + zoom microphone.. If you have any suggestions for setting up a rpi with locus sonus, that would be helpfull too. Best, Bram

[locustream] PI: love & hate...

hi there, my PI filesystem (on a HQ class 10 SDcard) is totally corrupted again, though i have put write intensive stuff into ramdisks. just after an update/upgrade. what does that mean... try another mini pc with a dedicated usb/network bus? cubox or so? any experience anybody? i love this pi and i hate these unpredictable crashes without an obvious reason. we'll see. since i sort of need a very mobile setup, i've bought a used iphone 4s and a tascam ixj2 preamp, where i connect my okm or primo mics too. works really nice and is the most lightweight setup i've used so far. a tiny but useful detail of the tascam preamp: it has a mini usp port for charging the phone while streaming, i.e. with an external battery. i've tried the fancy €180 rode ixy mic too, but that needs a lot of gain, which the streaming apps (koalasan, icast pro) can't deliver. so the audio signal is very low, unusable. a pity, since this mic sounds quite nice and has a good build quality. bests, udo -- radio aporee 52° 29' 66" N, 13° 25' 26" E ::: maps http://aporee.org/maps/ ::: stream http://radio.aporee.org ::: miniatures for mobiles http://aporee.org/mfm/

[locustream] Walberswick (Suffolk) stream running.

Hi all, I just finished setting up an open microphone in a garden in Walberswick on the Suffolk Coast of England. Lots of birds! The set up is raspberry-pi running Pure Data with a BlueIcicle audio card and a Superlux ECM999 mic. best Peter
