hello,
is there an (xml, json, etc.) list of currently available open
microphones? i'm inserting once or twice an hour a randomly
picked mic into the stream on radio aporee (of course with backlinks
an credits), and would like to do that on mics which are actually
*available*. at the moment i'm using a static list, which fails sometimes
when a mic turns off.
another thing, the level of my cologne stream dropped to almost inaudible,
probably a defect microphone, have to check when there. i thought about
replacing it with an primo em 172, which is a pretty low noise onmi. does
anyone have experience with it on a streambox?
thanks, udo

hello all
we want to do a 24 round the world daybreak broadcast in MAY 2014
we want to use the project to help build the locus sonus network
I think it would be really useful if we could (re) open at this point a discussion about the blocks people have to keeping their mics open and what they need in order to open them up.
I / we are looking at ways to support those issues
So eg for me: Pure Data constantly becomes unresponsive; I have spent many hours installing various versions, verifying X11, upgrading internet connection, poring through logs which I don't really understand.. I need to try with a different machine; then probably I need some piece of hardware - maybe a raspberry pi based kit - that will run reliably. for me these experiments are still worthwhile because the basic locus sonus open mic premise remains compelling and full of potential.
I also have an immediate interest in getting coverage across all time zones towards the REVEIL event.
I appreciate this is a recurring point of discussion. But can we try to take stock of where the network is now? What are we able and wanting to do with it? How can we open more mics?
Any thoughts very welcome

Hello all
We now have a Raspberry Pi streaming with Pure Data. But we are having trouble getting sound into it via an iMic usb interface.
Grégoire, we thought you might have some tips from your experiences..?
Also: at reveil we are listening out still for hints about getting more mics up and going..
Do you recognize any of these obstacles?
/ I don't have enough time [to sort out the open mic]
/ The computer / cables / microphone are in use for another project
/ There seemed always to be issues - I got tired of trying to solve them
/ The audio quality seemed maybe not that good
/ I have a streambox somewhere - I think the power cable got lost
/ There are so few mics up and working - I wonder is this project going anywhere?
Would be good to hear takes on this to work out tactics - look at all the mics under construction in the right panel!
