Hello all. Several important annoncements:
1/ Locus sonus as been given a new icecast server by a generous
sponsor. This means that we no longer have any limit to the number of
ogg vorbis streams simultaneously present. We are hoping to expand
the project to include as many new streams as possible so please feel
free to spread this news and have other people contact us if they
would like to get involved.
To stream from the new server please download the new patch here:
http://nujus.net/~locusonus/site/streams/download.html
login: lhoosl
You'll find a few new features, you can now enter your streaming data
without going into programming mode also we've included some filters
so that you have more control over the sound of your stream.
To check that your stream is present on the new map:
http://nujus.net/~locusonus/site/streams/mapcreacast.php
To check on the server:
http://locus.creacast.com:9001/
As soon as everyone has migrated to the new server we'll switch the
map on the website.
2/ Locus Sonus has been invited to set up a stream installation over
a longer time period (1 year) at the Musée de Gap: http://www.ia05.ac-
aix-marseille.fr/musee/musee.htm. The plan is to hang parabolic loud
speakers at different locations in and around the museum each with a
different stream so that visitors will experience the sound
environment from your microphones either by stumbling on them as they
visit the museum or by deliberately returning at different seasons,
times of day etc. Our plan is to slowly build up the number of
listening spots over the year as more streams become available,
however the show is due to start in the middle of june so we're
counting on you all (or rather we're asking you nicely) to keep your
streams up and running in as permanent manner as possible.
3/ Another generous sponsor, a computer recycling company called
micro orange: http://www.microrange.com/ have given us a palette
load of PCs which although old, are ideal for running a stream. We
are currently configuring them with an ubuntu system and sound cards
so if anyone needs a machine to be able to stream permanently, please
let us know so that we can plan on getting one to you.
4/ We will be presenting "Locustream tuner" and various perfomance
works using the streams at the the festival Bandimages in Bourges for
a week from May 7th. It would be great to have as many streams up and
running as possible, also we'll be preparing (using the streams) the
week before from April 30th.
5/ Some streamers have been using the streams for art art works of
their own, we're very open to these initiatives and would like to
hear about any which you might be involved in. The idea is to put up
links from the Locus sonus website and we are also wondering if we
couldn't work some of your stuff into our public presentations...

Anne,
j'enverrai demain matin (heure locale) les réponses aux questions,

Some people on this list already know about or are taking part in the
Locus sonus streamed open microphone project see: http://locusonus.org
All people running our streaming patch on OSX seem to be having the
same problem, (see message below) although the amount of time before
a freeze seems to vary considerably - anywhere between a few hours
and a few days- , which would seem to indicate some kind of memory
leak within the oggcast~ object does anyone have any ideas about this?
The same patch running under ubuntu or dynabolic woks perfectly...
I havn't included the patch with this message since it contains
access codes to our serveur, however if someone wants it to run tests
or indeed to take part in this project (We now have a new icecast
server with unlimited bandwidth and are inviting people to set up
more streams around the world). please email us : support(a)locusonus.org
Thanks

Hello,
I have updated to the latest version of PD-extended and the latest
Locusonus patch, but the patch will run for a few hours then freeze
pushing the CPU to about 80% (just with the patch). When I restart
PD all is well for a few more hours.
I am running PD and Locusonus on a PPC G4 Mac with 1 gig of RAM and
plenty of drive space. The OS X version is: 10.4.9
Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a possible fix? Am I
overlooking something?
Thank you,
Marc
